Mavoko sub-county Police Commander Kizito Mutoro has put on notice criminal gangs reportedly causing havoc in the area.
Addressing the public at Syokimau Shopping Centre on Tuesday, Mutoro said that police will not allow criminals to cause havoc.
He said security personnel have mapped out areas said to be criminals' playing grounds and investigations will be launched to identify the criminals.
Mutoro confirmed that several cases of petty crime mostly muggings have been reported in the area.
He said police are working on intelligence that will help them weed out criminals.
“We are going to deal with criminals, they will not turn Mavoko into a crime zone,” he said.
The commander said more security officials have been deployed in the area and urged local leaders to work with the police to help curb crime.
Mutoro also urged the administrators to sensitise residents on Nyumba Kumi. The Police boss said that through Nyumba Kumi, security will be improved.
He added that chiefs and administrators in the grass roots have been directed to sensitise the public.
Furthermore, the commander appealed to residents to volunteer information that will lead to arrest of criminals.
