Parents from Mavoko Sub County have been urged to invest in education as away of giving their children best foundation in their future lives. Speaking to this reporter on the phone on Wednesday, Mavoko MP, Patrick Makau said it had come to his realization that some parents from the region do not know importance of education and have therefore kept their children at home.

"I have realized that some of the parents from this sub county do not know the importance of education and have therefore kept their children at home," said Makau. He condemned such parents arguing they were ruining futures of their children stating that education is an eye opener and keys to brighter futures, in fact en equalizer.

Makau said there are thousands of Kenyans who have risen from humble backgrounds to reaches just because their parents, caretakers, well wishers or communities they came from knew importance of education hence took them to school. He said it is illegal for the parents to deny their children right to education due to ignorance thereby shutting their life dreams when they become of age as adults.

The legislature passed stun warning to the culprits stating he will not sit back and watch as the parents suppress the government's efforts to implement free primary and subsidized secondary and tertiary education.

Makau revealed he had established a foundation known as the Makau Foundation to support education of vulnerable children from Mavoko Sub county as a complement to other available government education funds.

He called on parents from pour backgrounds to apply for CDF, ward and Makau Foundation bursaries to enable their children complete studies and achieve their lifelong dreams.
