Uasin Gishu County leadership; led by Governor Jackson Mandago, have signed a memorandum of understanding with Mayo clinic in the United States to build an extra modern hospital in Uasin GIshu County.
Speaking in his office on Thursday after jetting in from the USA, majority leader Josphat Lowoi said that Mayo clinic has accepted to build an 80 bed capacity hospital starting September this year.
“The hospital will cost Sh2 billion and it will help to increase the bed capacity in the county, and essential services which were only concentrated in Nairobi will now be brought closer to wananchi,” he said.
He added that the hospital will donate an open heart surgery machine to the Moi Teaching and referral hospital that will ensure people with heart problems are helped at a lower cost without travelling for long distance as they used to do.
“Our trip to the US was not in vain and residents of Uasin Gishu will see the befits since what we learnt will help in transforming the county both economically and also create more employment opportunities for our youths,” he added.
