A Chief Police Inspector who single-handedly disarmed an alleged drunk officer has been applauded by Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua for her bravery.
The officer was allegedly threatening to shoot at mechanics along Oginga Odinga Street in Bondeni slums in Nakuru on Tuesday.
Speaking when he hosted Chief Inspector Peninah Kamicha at his office on Thursday, Mbugua praised her saying that her bravery was worth emulating.
Mbugua said that the lives of mechanics at the Bondeni slums and other citizens were in danger were it not for Inspector Kamicha who wrestled the drunk officer to the ground and snatched a loaded AK47 from him.
“It was an act of braveness for a woman officer to wrestle the drunken policeman and confiscate the rifle," he said.
Mbugua urged police officers in the county to emulate the dedication and commitment shown by Chief Inspector Kamicha.
He added that such acts of bravery and commitment will create confidence and good working relationship between the public and the police.
At the same time, Mbugua asked the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) to take action against rogue police officers who misuse their weapons.
