A member for Nyamira County Assembly has been accused of hiring 'hooligans' to intimidate his perceived competitors and opponents.

This comes a day a harambee for National Super League side Borabu Youth was abandoned following chaos caused by some people at Borabu Primary School grounds on Monday.

Speaking on Tuesday at Amakara, aspiring area MCA Milton Ongaki accused Nyansiongo township MCA Jackson Mogusu of transporting 'hooligans' to disrupt functions presided by his competitors.

He said the MCA has developed the habit and called upon the police to investigate him over the aborted harambee in which three people were critically injured and subsequently hospitalised at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

“The MCA is known of intimidating us. It was evident yesterday when we were attacked at Borabu Primary. They disrupted our event and sang slogans in his support. He should be investigated and subsequently apprehended to respond to the allegations,” he said.

Mr Ongaki said the event was the latest and gave a detailed chronology of events in which the MCA allegedly sent people to intimidate his opponents.

“You saw what happened in Nyansiongo town, then at Menyenya secondary and now at Borabu. We also have a right to help our people and someone cannot use his powers to intimidate perceived opponents,” he added.

However, Mr Mogusu who spoke on telephone from Nyamaiya grounds where he was attending Mashujaa Day celebrations denied the allegations and urged his opponents to record a statement with the police.

“I have never hired hooligans to disrupt meetings. I was never invited in the aforementioned events and therefore it is improper to drug my name to the predicaments facing my opponents. Let them record a statement or I take the matter to court,” he said.
