Rhoda Ward MCA John Macharia has asked the county government of Nakuru to address the problem of sewer leakage in Rhoda estate.
Speaking at the estate on Wednesday, Macharia said that the estate risks another cholera outbreak if the problem is not addressed promptly.
"Many cholera deaths were reported in this estate a few weeks ago but we have not seen the county government environment and health departments move to prevent such deaths from recurring,” he said.
The MCA noted that raw sewer flows freely through the estate posing a huge health risk to residents who he says barely have a clean source of water.
"If this problem is addressed cholera and other related diseases can be contained. However everything has remained the same,” he said.
He has now appealed to the county government to consider replacing the current sewerage system in the area with a more modern one to increase efficiency.
