There is a need for chiefs to use public barazas to educate residents on health matters.

Speaking on Sunday in Marani, Kitutu Chache South constituency, during a visit to the area, sub-county Public Health Officer Thomas Oirere said barazas are the best forums where residents can be educated on issues affecting the society.

“Barazas are one of the ways of meeting with many people. We urge our chiefs to make use of them to educate the public on how to fight diseases that are affecting us,” Oirere said.

He said a good number of residents have little information about diseases and how to manage them; hence such forums will come in handy.

“As the Ministry of Health, we need to put in place measures that will help our people get information on diseases,” the health officer said.

He urged residents to attend such meetings when they are called upon as one way of being empowered.
