Two people died on Wednesday after a disagreement erupted between a bodaboda rider and two passengers.

Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said the motorcycle rider, Edwin Musyoki, 25, disagreed with Moffat Gitari and Eric Kiiva who were his passengers over payment.

The duo stabbed the rider with a knife killing him instantly and attempted to escape with the motorcycle after the incident but the villagers who noticed the incident happen attacked them.

The irate villagers lynched Moffat Gitari while Eric Kiiva ran to Murugi Administration Police station at Uika.

Police detained him at the station as villagers demanded he be lynched.

Law enforcers have commenced investigations into the incident.

The OCPD said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Yatta Level Four Hospital Mortuary.

Kipsang cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands by lynching suspects saying that such people should be handed over to police.

He said they will prosecute the suspect once they are through with the investigations.
