Moi University Security and Accommodation department has appealed to all students to report any suspicious activities witnessed at the institution.
The plea comes after Eldoret police launched investigations into the alleged disappearance of four Moi University students.
On Monday, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan confirmed that they had received information about the missing of four Moi University students, noting that one of them hails from the county.
He, however, said they are not yet sure whether the missing students have joined criminal groups or the terrorist group, al Shabaab.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, he said.
On Wednesday, Security and Accommodation director – Moi University David Sanchez on his official facebook page cautioned the comrades to follow the varsity measures such as avoiding crowded places especially at night due to the increased threat and rise in security fears within the institution.
Sanchez further urged students to avoid loud music in rooms at night as they observe the 10-10 rule.
“Loud music in rooms should be avoided especially at night. The 10-10 rule should be observed. Security guys will be doing a checkup at the entrances,” said Sanchez.
The comrades were also reminded to carry their national ID cards to ease in their identification besides being urged to avoid unnecessary tension as they show their cooperation in their quest to fight terrorism.
“Carry your students ID all the time, because checkups may be done in any place at any time. Students are also urged not to cause unnecessary tensions as this may lead to stampedes which are a threat to lives too,” added Sanchez.
