Baringo senator Gideon Moi has urged youths in the Rift Valley to get Identification Cards (IDs) and register as voters.
Speaking when he met youths at Kenamosa resort in Eldoret on Friday, the Baringo senator said that many youths have not applied for IDs.
He said that there is no way youths will be able to participate in election without IDs.
Moi urged local leaders to ensure that youths who have reached the eligible age register to get IDs.
“It is important for young people who have reached the eligible age to get IDs so that they are able to vote,” he said.
The Baringo senator said that voting is a constitutional right and that youths should be prepared as early as possible.
He said that change can be actualised if young people register as voters and vote during elections.
At the same time, the Baringo senator appealed to youths to stay away from politicians who are keen to use them to cause violence.
He said that it is unfortunate that some politicians employ youths to cause trouble. The senator said that peace in Rift Valley and the country at large is with the youth.
Senator Moi urged youths to spearhead peace campaigns especially in areas that have been hit by conflict.
