Molo Sub County Deputy Commissioner Judith Cheruyiot has said its high time that boy child education be prioritized.
“Over the long time, a lot has been said and done in regard to girl child education which has in turn led to deteriorating standards in terms of morals and performance of the boy child,” Cheruyiot said.
In her view, the rate at which young boys were missing school in Molo was alarming which needed immediate intervention.
“Look at the number of school going boys riding motorbikes on our roads. What of the number of young boys arrested in different places in the ongoing illicit brew raids?” she posed.
Adding that “The society is lagging behind in terms of development due to ignorance and illiteracy which are vices that can be successfully fought, because in my view, we missed a point somewhere.”
Cheruyiot specifically took issue with human right groups and societies concentrating on empowering the girl child alone arguing that it’s such perceptions that are leading to the moral decay characterizing our male species.
According to a United Nation survey on the importance of Boy Child Education, 2 out of every 20 boys remain out of class due to being ignored by the society.
