Borabu constituency residents have accused their MP of allegedly prioritising non-issues in the region.
This comes after Mr Ben Momanyi launched a number of open shades for hawkers in the region without giving clear indication on how he will donate them to a number of hawkers and small scale business people in the region.
Led by aspiring MP Dr Nyandoro Kambi on Sunday morning, the residents accused Momanyi of failing to ‘consult’ widely before initiating a project that is funded by taxpayers' money.
“We support projects that help the community to grow but we don’t support projects that we are not duly consulted. Erecting the shades isn’t an issue but we are not told who is going to benefit since we have hundreds of hawkers from the region. The project isn’t worthwhile and it’s high time he prioritizes issues,” Kambi said.
According to them, the MP had ignored sensitive areas like education and health and reverted to minor issues that were not necessary.
“Most of our schools are having leaking roofs, our children aren’t given enough salaries, we have very few health centers therefore, we cannot agree anymore with these projects like shades,” he added.
They threatened to pull down the structures if the MP fails to give the criteria that will be used to distribute the shades to hawkers and demanded to know the exact amount spent in the project.
“As civilians from Mwongoroi and I hope from other regions here, we aren’t impressed at all. He must give us the criteria that will be used to distribute the shades and we also want to know the exact amount from CDF kitty that was used,” added Kambi.
