Thika West deputy county commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru and Thika MP Alice Ng'ang'a have fired a stern warning to lazy and corrupt security officers in Thika.
The two, who were speaking in different meetings on Friday, vowed to crack the whip on officers and local administrators that are siding with criminals and taking bribes from them.
Ng'ang'a said that she has information on chiefs that are helping some brewers to supplying their illegal drinks to the public while they are bribed and he is set to expose them and ensure they are sacked immediately.
She added that the former police inspector used to do a great job and that those reshuffled to other areas are set to make a return as proposed changes in the area administration and those corrupt, citing the officer who murdered a Kiandutu girl last week, should be fired immediately the others arrive.
On his side, the DCC who spoke in Thika Community Hall on Friday, said that there has been a rise in insecurity in Thika town Estates and the officers have been making fruitless patrols as they don't arrest anyone despite the criminals conducting their illegal businesses.
He said that he will not protect any officer who is lazy and engaging into graft activities instead of safeguarding the people as mandated.
"We cannot just sit and watch as people are being attacked, robbed and murdered. If an officer cannot conduct his work correctly then he should go home and give room to those who are willing to work as mandated," Gicheru said.
Ng'ang'a who spoke in Thika East on Friday added that the are facing challenges in discharging their work due to the corrupt officers where she was accompanied by Thika East DCC David Komen.
