Juja MP Francis Waititu has asked the government to extend the National Youth Service (NYS) projects to other constituencies so that youths can get a chance to get employment.
Speaking in Juja on Thursday during the burial of President Uhuru Kenyatta's nephew, Munyua said the NYS projects have transformed Kibera and other areas where they have been launched and that it will be necessary for the government to extend the projects to other constituencies.
He said that through the NYS projects young people have been able to access employment.
He further said that Juja has been left lagging behind due to lack of a district thus missing out on important projects by the government.
Waititu added that his constituency also needs thorough cleaning and upgrading so that residents can have a conducive environment for living and operating business.
The legislator further urged the government to recruit more youths into the initiative saying that many youths are languishing in unemployment adding that idleness has made young people engage in criminal activities.
The MP also said that some of the money under the constituency development fund should be used to rehabilitate alcohol addicts and insisted that the alcohol addicts in the area need urgent treatment and care to recover.
The MP said he will continue to fight against illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks.
