Naivasha MP John Kihagi has said Parliament will teach the executive more lessons if it continues with its trend of 'disrespecting' the government.
MP Kihagi said that parliament will not be used as a rubber stamp by the Executive and called on the Executive to respect Parliament.
Speaking in Naivasha town on Sunday, Kihagi said that Members of Parliament should not be blamed for rejecting the President’s nominee for the position of secretary to the cabinet because they were simply exercising their duty as they should.
“What happened to Dr. Monica Juma should be a warning to the Executive that parliament is an independent institution with its own laws and that we will not be manipulated by the Executive or any other arm of the government," said Kihagi adding that if exercising their independence as MPs is seen as breaking the law then they will break more laws.
“The Executive must be prepared for more disappointments if it doesn’t respect and listen to Parliament.
Kihagi added that Members of Parliament are people’s representatives and that they were acting in the interests of Kenyans who elected them.
“Parliament will not be moved by anyone because we are simply doing what we were elected to do,” said MP Kihagi
