Public officers and civil servants have been urged to offer their services to Kenyans without requiring recognition and praise.
According to Ambassador Francis Muthaura, many public officers consider being recognised than offering the necessary services to Kenyans which will help the country develop.
Muthaura who was speaking on Thursday at Kisii University during the National Council of Elders Conference accused public officers and civil servants of failing to recognise that their primary role is to serve Kenyans.
“It is necessary that public officers avoid struggling to be recognised and called by big titles. Their position is already known to those they are serving,” said Muthaura.
He added that some officers have made it routine to offer below par services including deliberate delays if those they are serving do not 'recognise' them.
“If you are the MCA, perform your work without necessary asserting your position in society. What is important is how you are working by empowering your people through development, ” added Muthaura.
