Muthiga Shopping Centre along the Nairobi -Naivasha highway in Kiambu County can be termed as a bedrock of entertainment.
The shopping centre which lies about 17kms from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi is known for it's popular joints which offer a variety of entertainment and sumptuous nyama choma.
Around seven joints dot the shopping centre and each day, they are busy as travellers make stop-overs to re-energise before they continue with their journey.
The nyama choma here can be compared with that found at Kikopey, a town found on the Naivasha-Nakuru highway.
Maybe that's the reason one joint at Muthiga is known as Kikopey Nairobi.
John Wekesa, a regular traveller says he always makes stopovers at Muthiga to take his favourite meal, roasted goat ribs and ugali.
From Friday, as the weekend starts, the area is a beehive of activity as those who love the night life sample the different types of entertainment on offer in the joints.
In one joint, a Disc Jockey (DJ) plays music and one can hear a One Man guitarist belt out a popular tune in another. Dancing areas are usually full as patrons enjoy themselves.
The revellers come from far flung areas and also from nearby towns. David Mwangi says that he travels all the way from Limuru every weekend.
"I make sure I arrive early as possible as getting parking here is very hard," says Mwangi. Mwangi adds that beyond entertainment, many business deals are sealed here.
"Businesses worth millions are conducted too as people have fun," adds Mwangi.
At Muthiga it seems the old adage that you cannot mix business with pleasure is clearly not true.
