The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (Nacada) chairman John Mututho has challenged youths in Naivasha to shun alcohol abuse.

He instead wants the youths to concentrate on activities that will better their lives.

Briefing journalists in Naivasha town on Monday, Mututho said that alcohol abuse will ruin youths if they fail to stop.

The Nacada boss said that the number of youths abusing alcohol is alarming. He asked the youths to shun drugs and instead focus their energy on development.

“It is time young people in Naivasha and across the country understood that alcohol abuse will ruin them completely,” he said.

The former Naivasha MP challenged youths to use loans from the Uwezo Fund to start businesses.

He said the funds will help youths to start business ventures and forget about alcohol.

“Young people should be encouraged to apply for government funds and start businesses instead of them wasting their precious time and money on alcohol,” he advised.

The MP at the same time urged leaders in Naivasha to create employment opportunities for the youths.

He said that lack of jobs was the major cause of alcohol and drug abuse in the area.
