A University of Nairobi lecturer has decried wastage of teachers with degrees, challenging the Government to consider them for employment to improve the quality of education in the country.
Professor Winston Akalla, a Dean of Education UoN's Kikuyu Campus challenged the Government to ensure teachers with degrees employed to have them contribute confidently towards the improvement of the country's education system.

"It is worrying that even though the country is endowed with highly trained education professionals their training and professional knowledge in education are yet to be tapped as they have not been employed by the Government to use their training to improve and transform the country's education standards,"stated Akalla.
The University Don observed that having teachers with degrees employed by the Government will not only improve the quality of teaching and curriculum delivery in the country, but will also motivate the teachers in question work hard in discharging their duties, since their job security will be assured through permanent employment.
