Nakuru County Assembly leader of majority Hon. Samuel Waithuki Njuki has condemned the burning Nakuru Town's only fire engine by Salgaa's residents during a protest on Tuesday on the Nakuru- Eldoret highway.
Njuki who is the ward representative for Naivasha ward said that the residents of Salgaa should not have burnt down the fire engine as a way of expressing their grievances but should have instead used the proper channels of communication with the relevant authority.
Njuki was speaking at the Nakuru county assembly on Wednesday morning, Njuki told the house that the burnt down fire engine was the one of the two fire engines that the county has. The county has now been left with only one fire engine that is to serve areas around Naivasha Sub County.
The fire engine estimated to be worth 50 million was burnt on Tuesday was supposed to serve areas around Molo and Nakuru Town.
“It is sad that Nakuru town now has no fire engine that can be used in case of cases of fires.
He regretted the action of the residents of Nakuru County and advised that Kenyans first exhaust all the communication channels before engaging in such destructive actions
