Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged all leaders to employ an open door policy in ensuring that residents get the chance of freely air their grievances.
Speaking in Subukia Sub-County at St Veronica Catholic Church on Sunday after leading a funds drive in aid of construction of a new church, the governor accused local leaders of being too preoccupied at the expense of the people whom they are supposed to serve.
He was reacting after a farmer’s cooperative society seized the function to present a proposal on what should be done in the county to fast track service delivery.
“Such sensitive information should be delivered to me through the assistance of your local leaders for convenience purposes,” he said.
The governor further urged residents to always make contact with their area MP and MCA offices while forwarding any development plans to prevent cases of clashing priorities.
“Some of these areas have already been earmarked for consideration in subsequent budget allocation in specific sub-counties so before forwarding such proposals, make contact with your representative’s offices and get a clue of what exactly has been planned for the area in question,” he advised.
In the proposal, the Rigogo Chonjo Farmer’s Co-operative Society highlighted their concerns on land grabbing and encroachment of public land, poorly equipped health facilities, inaccessible road networks, lack of adequate supply of water among others.
The governor promised to put to the task concerned officers while further stressing his commitment in ensuring equitable distribution of resources within all regions in the county.
