Residents within the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) and environs have been urged to avail themselves to give views on the Financial Bill 2015-16 after the first day recorded a low turnout.

According to the officers drawn from the Financial Bill committee, the low turnout was unfortunate. They stressed the importance of factoring in the views and ideas of residents.

The desks stationed at various points in the town remained visibly empty with residents continuing with their normal daily activities.

“We are here to get and document views from our people that will be necessary while debating on the bill and giving our recommendations,” noted Moses Ndichu, an officer at a station near the old town hall.

“This is the only time everyone is entitled to give ideas that will see the committee make relevant suggestions to the budgeting committee which will help in averting cases of bias and favouritism as everyone feels part of the process,” he added.

The session which officially begun on Tuesday August 8, is expected to end next week on August 15 when residents in all sub-counties are expected to have given their opinions on the bill.
