Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has claimed that a huge amount of taxpayers revenue in Machakos County is being misappropriated.
Speaking at a burial ceremony in Kangundo Sub-County on Saturday, the former MP claimed that the county government of Machakos has become an epitome of corruption.
Wavinya's remarks come barely a week after Governor Mutua sent home several senior officials among them three county executive members for involvement in corruption and abuse of office.
"Why would the governor use resources meant for local residents to tour the neighbouring counties promising them development when they have a government of their own?” said Wavinya.
Governor Mutua recently made tours to Kitui and Makueni County where he declared the Maendeleo Chap Chap philosophy a unity movement for the Ukambani region.
Wavinya said it is laughable that Mutua has been promising to develop the neighbouring counties yet they have been posting higher revenue collection than Machakos County.
"It is interesting to note that Kitui and Makueni Counties where Mutua purports to develop are collecting more revenue despite their small economies,” she said.
She further asked the governor to put his good ideas to practise because the people of Machakos need him to fulfil his promises.
Her words were seconded by Kangundo North MCA Francis Matheka who faulted some projects that have been launched by the county government terming them as mere mirage.
