Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has faulted Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua over his 'Maendeleo Chap Chap' movement.

She says the move to include Makueni County is non-beneficial to residents of Machakos but rather advised the governor to direct his whole attention in ensuring development in his county.

“Our county is yet to realize socio-economic stability and cannot cross over to undertake development in another county. In the last financial year, Makueni County managed to accumulate Sh1.6 billion revenue which is far much greater than Machakos County’s Sh400 million,” she said.

Ndeti maintained that the governor should concentrate on serving his people and stop "meddling in the affairs of other counties".

"Less than ten percent of homes in Machakos County have constant water supply, an indication of how much the residents require Mutua’s undivided attention," Wavinya Ndeti said outside Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral, Machakos.

She added, “Our governor should acknowledge that the funds he has been mandated to manage belong to the people of Machakos who want the money to be invested in their area in order to benefit them."

The Chama Cha Uzalendo party leader urged the governor to administer equitable development in the county while calling for accountability.

“Our governor has served for many years in the central government making him conversant with expenditure controls and procedures which he should also implement in Machakos County.
