Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has received a rare backing from Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire who has been very critical of the county boss in the recent weeks.
Speaking on Tuesday at Miriri area during a burial ceremony, Bosire said he had a different perspective on the county boss on party matters and reiterated his willingness to support Nyagarama in his bid to recapture the seat in 2017 on an ODM ticket.
Mr Bosire said he was convinced with the efforts the county leadership was taking to fight graft following suspension of six senior officials among them three county executives following revelation of massive embezzlement of funds.
“I am always ready to work with the governor as I have been. He has shown willingness to fight corruption and that is what we want. When we are dealing with matters graft, the issue of friendship we put aside. I will support the governor to launch development programs for our people,” he said.
Bosire, who is also the ODM county chairperson, said the county was a Cord stronghold and he was ready to ensure it succeeds since electorates will be keen to judge parties from the county level.
“The political duels we have been involved in are enough now. This is the time to work for our people and that is why I have resolved to support the governor because this is a Cord government. If he fails, them it will be Cord which would have failed,” he added.
The move is a big boost for the governor Nyagarama who risks being condemned by the ODM party which had sponsored his 2013 election and Bosire is the senior ODM official from the entire Gusii region given his portfolio as the party’s national treasurer.
