The perennial crisis between school management and parents from a number of institutions from Nyamira County may be a thing of the past, after primary school heads from the region constituted a mediation team that will be mandated to solve the crises.

Speaking on Saturday at Motagara Seventh Day Adventist church, Nyamira county KEPSHA chairperson Robert Morimbocha said many schools were performing dismally in the region due to strained relationships between school managements and the parents.

He said the ten men mediation committee, in which he will also chair, will be doing an assessment in the entire county to identify hotspot institutions.

“I think we are all aware that our county has not been performing well in national exams. The Ministry of education identified strained relationship between management and parents as part of the reason and that is why we formed a ten-man committee to act as mediators in our institutions,” he said.

He called for calm in institutions where intrigues had been reported, and urged the affected institutions to report the issues to the committee.

“Time has come for us to embrace dialogue and whenever we have a problem, parents and school heads of the affected institutions should report the same to the committee for impartial solutions,” he said.

The move was lauded by Masaba North Ass. KNUT Secretary General James Oteki, who termed the move heroic and urged parents to embrace it.

“This is a heroic move and we must embrace it. The fact that five other parents and two professional will also be part of it, makes the whole move fantastic,” he said.
