Professionals from Nyamira County have called on the county government and constituency leadership from the region to develop a common work plan to avoid duplication of projects.

Led by Dr Kambi Nyandoro at his Borabu backyard, the professionals raised concerns about lack of communication between the county government and constituency leadership.

They said if the common plan was not developed, both levels of government were likely to lose millions of shillings to unscrupulous dealers who would seize the opportunity arising from duplication of projects to defraud the public.

“It is quite dangerous that the county government has no common plan with CDF committees. This is likely to bring about massive loses of tax payers’ money as some people will not hesitate to take advantage of duplicated projects,” Dr Kambi said.

His counterpart Garrison Omache said it was possible for the county government and the CDF committee to set funds aside for a certain project without necessarily either said aware of the plans hence making one side to defraud the public.

“It happens that the two entities can set funds for a similar project and fail to inform each other. That gives room for corruption and that is what we are advising against,” he said.

He said the common plan would enhance rapid growth in rural areas since the two sides (county government and CDF kitty) would be able to support projects.

“If they work together as a team, you can imagine the advantages. We will have quality projects launched and that can sustain quick economic growth in our rural areas,” he said.
