Bogichora zonal education officer Mr Cornelius Nyamamba found himself in unfamiliar situation when a section of parents demanded that he justifies the recent transfer of Nyabisimba Primary School head.
Angry parents had summoned the education officer to the institution after reports emerged that he initiated the transfer of Mr Alex Nyamboga to Mwongori Primary School.
On Friday, Nyamamba was literally ambushed from his office to address hundreds of parents who had gathered in the institution demanding the former school head be reinstated to the institution.
“We have information that he transferred Mr Nyamboga who had actually helped our institution to improve. It was unnecessary to transfer someone who has a vision for our children. Improving the mean score from 226 marks in 2013 to 272 in 2014 is not an easy task and we want him back,” said Mr John Basweti.
However Mr Nyamamba dismissed the speculations of the transfer and urged parents to petition the Ministry of Education.
“I don’t have powers to transfer teachers and I want to urge you to raise the question with the ministry and TSC for answers. The allegations that I engineered the transfer are null and void and it’s my hope that next time parents should be tolerant,” he said.
