Lari OCPD Bernard Makoma has asked illicit brewers to seek other alternative businesses saying that there is no longer any place for the trade.

Addressing the public at Lari town on Saturday, Mr Makoma said that the war against illicit brew is far from over.

He said that illicit brewers have no option but to start other legal business.

“When we started the crackdown on illicit brews and illegal alcohol we had an aim of wiping it out completely,” he said.

Makoma warned that brewers who will be tempted to re-start the illegal business will be apprehended and arraigned in court.

He said that illicit brewing was rampant in the area adding that there has been change since the crackdown started one month ago.

The Lari OCPD advised the youth in the area to take part in development and forget about alcohol.

"Many young people have been lured into alcohol and drug abuse due to availability, we are not going to allow that to continue," he added.

Makoma urged local chiefs not to relent in the fight against illicit brewers. He said the government is determined to put end to illicit brewers and illegal alcoholic drinks.
