Olympic Primary School in Kibera bagged several awards during celebrations to mark the end of Kibera's Education Day on Friday.
This is as a result of the school recording an outstanding performance in the last years’ Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams.
Olympic took home more than five trophies after emerging the overall winners under the public primary schools category in the exams followed by Jamuhuri primary school.
Other trophies came after being awarded the best in girls’ sports, most disciplined school and for producing the top six pupils in the exams.
According to the head teacher Caleb Ochieng, the pupils were hardworking and cooperative leading to their exemplary performance.
"Our pupils were ready to learn. The teachers too were ready and willing to teach. Parents on their part played a good role of helping children do their homework on time. We managed through team work and hard work, prayer was our daily bread," said the jovial Ochieng.
Under the private school category, Peace Junior Academy emerged the top while Upper Hill High School emerged the top in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education followed by Moi Girls High School.
However, every top pupil in all schools in Kibera was awarded a geometrical set.
All these gifts were sponsored by the CDF office in Kibera.
