The National Land Commission has said more than 5,000 schools have applied for title deed and another 350 have reported cases of land grabbing in their schools.

Speaking on Thursday in Eldoret NLC vice chair, Abigael Mukolwe said several institutions have applied for land registration after the Lang’ata Road Primary School saga.

She urged schools to take advantage of the president’s directive that all public schools in the country should acquire title deeds.

Mukolwe added that land grabbing has been reported in Nakuru, Kakamega and Uasin Gishu counties. She said NLC will make sure that all lands are returned to the respective schools.

"I want to urge school heads to ensure they physically secure their lands and report any encroachment to the commission. Schools within informal settlements and those that have court cases will not be issued with title deeds" she said
