Parents and guardians in Kangundo Sub-County have been blamed for increased drug abuse among youth in the area.
Speaking on Monday during a public forum in Kangundo Town, the Kangundo Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Njora condemned the increased drug abuse and consumption of illicit brew.
"Abuse of drugs has been an issue in this sub-county with the youth being the most affected due to negligence by parents, who are always busy working and have no time to talk to their teenage children,” said Njora.
The commissioner called upon parents to make time and educate their children on the effects of drug abuse.
"Drug and alcohol abuse has also led to increase in crime as drug users turn to theft in a bid to get money to purchase the drugs,” said Njora.
Njora advised the youth to form groups and make use of the County Development Funds that are set aside for the youth.
