Learning at a primary school in Borabu constituency came to a halt after angry parents descended on the school demanding the transfer of the head teacher.

Speaking on Tuesday at Gesebei Primary School, parents led by their convener Mr Peter Nyaribo accused the head teacher Mr Evans Monari of misusing the school assets by renting the premises without approval from the school committee.

However, the head teacher denied the allegation saying he had used the money wisely.

They said Mr Monari has violated an agreement initially put down by parents that the institution uses gains from a tea farm and pyrethrum within the school compound to purchase exams for students.

“We were very categorical that whatever income we generate from the tea and pyrethrum plantations are used to purchase tests for our students but unfortunately, the head teacher has never accounted for the money and instead he is constantly asking us to pay,” said Mr Nyaribo.

They asked the Ministry of Education to sack the head teacher in a months’ time or transfer him.

“The Ministry has no option other than sacking him or removing him from the institution because we have enough evidence. They have only a month to do so,” added Mrs Evelyn Temu.

Mr Monari dismissed the allegations and offered to present records to vindicate himself from the allegations.

“The money was used to pay untrained teachers besides buying tea for them during morning preps. I am ready to account for everything if need be,” he said.
