The Director of The Elview Special School, Rena Oyugi, has called upon parents with disabled children to enroll them into special schools and know that their situation can be made better.

Speaking in her office on Monday Oyugi, who is also a specialist in handling children with disability, said that there has been an increased number of children with disability being neglected, while their normal counterparts are in school.

“Parents with children who are physically or mentally challenged should take them as normal kids and take them to special schools and thereafter will turn out to be better than even the normal ones since disability is not inability, and what a normal child can do, a disabled one can do better, the only thing is to show them love and care,” she said.

She urged the public not to sympathise with parents who have children with disabilities, and instead help them with moral support on how they can help their children.

“Parents should not give first priority to the normal ones, where you find that they first pay fees for the normal ones before embarking on the disabled one, this should stop since they didn’t get them by accident, its God’s own making,” she added.
