A teacher’s union official has condemned the Teachers Service Commission for failing to obey the industrial court ruling directing it to pay tutors their September salaries.

Wareng branch Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary general John Boor has criticised the commission for failing to obey Industrial Court judge Nelson Abuodha order terming it as contempt of court.

"Why is TSC playing double standards? It was directed by the industrial court that September salaries should be paid like yesterday and despite us calling off the teachers strike, nothing has been done and at the moment. The commission is just playing delaying tactics,” he said.

He reiterated that TSC should obey courts the same Knut did when it called off the strike adding that teachers need the money.

"Court orders are meant to be obeyed and not to be ignored and we call upon TSC to obey to court orders. Why does the commission want us to obey the court rulings while it does the contrary, does it mean that they are above th law? If they continue with the same trend of disobeying court orders we will also do the same,"he added.

He urged teachers to stay calm as the Knut lawyers are working round the clock to ensure that their September salaries are paid without much ado.
