A section of Kisii parents has appealed to the Teachers Service commission (TSC) to pay teachers their September salaries to enhance smooth learning in schools before the term ends.

Parents who spoke to this writer on Monday at Kisii town, said that they are shocked to find that although their children are going to school, nothing much is being done by their teachers who are reportedly on a go-slow.

They said TSC needs to realise that teachers like any other government employees, need their monthly salaries to enhance their daily activities.

“It is quite useless for our children to be in school with their teachers while no learning is taking place. How can TSC expect teachers to teach while they hold their September salaries?” posed Susan Mokaya, a parent.

She added that for the Education sector to be empowered all stakeholders should come together and have a way forward in finding a permanent solution to perennial teachers' strikes.

Edward Nyasio said that if the war between teachers and their employer fails to come to an end, standards of education in the country will worsen.

“There are some situations as parents we fail to understand and there is nobody to help us since our children are still suffering. TSC can think that teachers are teaching while there is a go-slow which is worse than a strike,” added Nyasio.
