People living with disability in Uasin Gishu have been urged to register in large numbers in order to benefit from funds allocated for them in the county's 2015-16 financial year.
Uasin Gishu nominated MCA representing people with disabilities, Flora Cheptum on Wednesday said that the registration of people with disability is underway in the sub-county offices and the funds will only be given to those who have registered.
"For the first time Uasin Gishu County government has considered people living with disability by allocating them Sh20 million to improve their livelihoods," she said.
"The money will be used in the construction of special schools, to purchase of wheel chairs and senstising the public among other things," she added.
She urged parents with children living with disability to come out in large numbers for them to be registered and benefit from the funds.
"We can do everything just like other people. The only thing we need from you is assiatance to improve our livelihood and not sympathy, since we can even do better," she said.
