Police in Thika are holding three people in connection with the death of a 40-year-old man.

Geoffrey Mabaka died on Friday evening as his body was discovered inside his house in Thika town's Majengo estate.

Mr Mabaka died after sustaining deep cuts on the back and lower limbs after being attacked in his house by unknown people police said.

Thika police boss Erastus Muthamia told Hivisasa.com that the three, currently detained at Thika police station are helping police in investigation.

Mr Muthamia, according to the deceased's daughter said the killers had asked the late money he had collected from a church the previous week.

He identified those in custody as Patrick Njeru 21, Peter Mugendi 27 and Lewis Murangiri 26.

"They are helping police with investigations," Muthamia said on Saturday.

"They will be arraigned in court after investigation."

The killers however, spared the daughter of the deceased, Helaine Wanja, as they left without harming her.

Mr Muthamia said police will do everything to ensure the killers are arrested and charged.

He said police officers would increase patrols in Thika to curb the rising incidents of crime.
