Police in Nakuru on Wednesday gunned down four suspected gangsters and recovered a gun and ammunition from them.
Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko confirmed the incident saying the suspects were killed in a shootout with police officers in the morning.
The incident occurred at Flamingo Estate, Nakuru Town East Constituency.
“Police on patrol in Flamingo Estate confronted the suspects and ordered them to surrender but they fired at police,” said Kioko. “Police retaliated by opening fire killing the four on the spot.”
Kioko said police recovered one AK47 rifle and six rounds of ammunition.
He said the government is entitled to protect the residents and their property and thanked the members of public who provided the tip-off.
Kioko also said that the government has enhanced security in the area and urged residents to report any suspicious people to police.
He warned those working in cahoots with criminals that the law will not spare them.
“Anyone found committing crime will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” said Kioko.
The bullet -ridden bodies were taken to Nakuru Municipal Mortuary.
