Police on Tuesday night arrested two suspects alleged to be notorious brewers in Kiandutu slums.
The arrests followed an earlier operation in the area in which the officers impounded more than 7, 000 litres of illegal liquors found hidden under a heap of grass and which the public later destroyed.
Thika OCS Robert Okinya, who led the operation, said that they are still pursuing two more suspects who are still on the run.
He stated that the operation was conducted after residents informed them of people involved in the brewing of liquor in the area.
“We have arrested two suspects out of the four who the public had told us. The fight on bad brews is still on. The people have spoken and we have to hunt them until to face justice,” Okinya said.
“Illegal brews business is outlawed and we all know that. Let us be responsible citizens by abiding by the law. You all know the ultimate price of being found culpable. We will not spare anyone regardless of your influence in society,” the OCS added.
The two prime suspects will be arraigned in court soon, he added.
