A man was on Sunday night shot dead by police at Shauri Moyo Estate in Eldoret after he was identified as the suspect who killed a businessman on Saturday night.

The suspect, who was identified as one of the two assailants who killed Moses Sankale, in Action Estate, was tracked down by police following tip off from the residents.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West deputy OCPD Tom Achiya said that the assailant refused to open when police knocked on his door but used his gun to scare them away.

“The police knocked at his door but he refused to open and instead used his gun to steer away the police. This triggered an exchange of fire which led to his death,” said Achiya.

Achiya said they recovered an AK47 rifle from the suspect.

In another incident, the body of a young man was found lying lifeless at Huruma Estate in Eldoret.

The unidentified body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary while investigation on the cause of his death has been launched.
