Kisii OCPD Solomon Kiragu has warned errant motorists against careless driving that has allegedly led to numerous accidents along the major roads in the town.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Mr Kiragu said the incidents of motorist accidents were becoming rampant and warned of a possible crackdown to impound roadworthy vehicles.
“I am really worried about the increasing number of cases pertaining accidents on our major roads. This trend ought to stop because we all have the responsibility to guard life. We will continue with the crackdown against the unroadworthy vehicles and whoever will be found guilty will definitely face the rule of law,” he said.
The OCPD warned traffic officers against tolerating errant drivers along the majority highway and threatened to fire them if linked to any road related scandal.
“Our traffic officers also have to be vigilant. I have talked to them and hope they will do their job properly. They have to rise up to the occasion and help us curb rampant road accidents that are caused out of negligence,” he added.
Last week alone, at least three cars crashed with an additional of five motorbikes causing two fatalities and several casualties.
