"We are here to create awareness for the artists in Kisumu County and know the benefits of being a performer and what it means being paid as musicians," said director Achieng.

She added, "The artist is owed and the artist must get what duly belongs o them. There is a law which protects artists and that's why we are here to create that awareness. We are here to make that distinct clarity that artist should be paid for their work."

Achieng said that Kisumu has been lagging behind because of lack of access to information as far as rights of artist and their royalties are concerned.
