Bars owners in Githurai 45 and its environs in Kiambu County have been warned against selling alcohol to minors.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Githurai Kimbo OCS Hassan Pole warned the bar owners following complaints by parents that the business fraternity was targeting children.
The OCS said police officers are investigating the matter to identify bar owners that are culpable so that action can be taken against them.
He cautioned the owners over the matter saying those defying the alcohol laws would not be spared as they were ruining the future generation.
He also urged parents/guardians to monitor their children's activities, as the minors tend to leave home at night or come home late while some parents fail to notice or even ask about their whereabouts.
He added that parents and guardians should scrutinise the kind of company their children keep as they are easily influenced by their peers.
He said some even walk in the company of older youths who mislead them.
According to Cecil Murugu, a resident of Githurai 45, most minors try to emulate campus students who live among them, noting that some even introduce them to alcohol.
She said parents were mostly to blame for failing to monitor their children’s activities.
