Borabu Ward MCA Albert Oino has cited drug abuse and alcoholism as the greatest enemies facing the youth in most parts of the country.
Moinde has noted that unless the community enhances the ongoing war on the social vice by the government, an entire generation of youths risk being wiped out from the area.
Addressing youth at Chitago on Tuesday, Moinde said the liquor menace in the country has claimed a significant number of young men who are now helpless and require urgent rehabilitation.
He further noted that since the police and government agents cannot be everywhere to fight the illicit liquor, it is the responsibility of the community to intensify the fight and protect their children from perishing.
“Most of the students who are enrolled in various colleges in the county are from poor backgrounds, and since their parents pay taxes like the rest, it would be upon the county government to award some bursaries to them as they do in public institutions,” he said.
He called upon the community to join hands to fight against alcohol and drug abuse in the county, adding that they are responsible for helping the county on the same.
