Cord leader Raila Odinga has said Jubilee's tyranny of numbers in Parliament will not block President Uhuru Kenyatta's impeachment.
He said the reason for the President's proposed impeachment was of public interest and will attract support in both the opposition and government sides in Parliament.
The opposition led by Cord plans to move an impeachment motion in Parliament against President Uhuru Kenyatta for his refusal to implement a Supreme Court directive that teachers be paid the 50-60 per cent pay rise.
"Iam reminding President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto that they are a product of the Supreme Court and they should honour the court's verdict and pay teachers their salary increment," said Raila.
He was speaking at Getenga Primary School in Bobasi on Friday during a requiem mass for Dagoretti MP Simba Arati's father, Andrew Arati.
"As Cord, we are not worried that Jubilee will vote in favour of President Uhuru when the impeachment motion against him comes to the floor of the House," he said.
He said the motion will not be moved because he had any bad blood with the President.
He said failing to adhere to the court ruling amounts to setting a bad example to Kenyans.
He spoke as Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi closed school across the country following the refusal by teachers to report to school because of an on going strike.
Cord co-Principal Moses Wetangula said on Thursday the President should direct for the payment of the teachers' salaries to avoid the humiliation that will come with the impeachment.
