A Maseno landlady who allegedly received money from two University students has been ordered by court to refund back the money within a month.
The two students had booked a room with the landlady who had promised them the room early September but when the students reported back to campus, the landlord kept playing hide and seek.
The court today found the accused guilty of receiving Sh16,000 and not offering a room.
The two, Ednah Wafula and Joyce Wamboi, both 2nd year students, were pleased with the court ruling saying at least they received justice but a little disappointed with the duration of repayment, saying it will disadvantage them as they seek another room.
“I am very much pleased with the court ruling after a long battle with the landlord. Finally, justice has reigned,” said Wafula.
This come after a crisis in Maseno for accommodation for the students where some have even been forced to reside in neighboring towns such as Luanda.
The said rentals are at Wisdom Corner House in Maseno.
