Kiambu County government has pledged to repair the Kenyatta highway road that has been in a bad state for a long time.
Speaking in Thika on Friday, area MP Alice Ng’ang’a and Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi said that the road is under the county government and they have decided to repair the road in a bid to enable the transport sector to ease its operations.
The MP claimed that the road was left out intentionally as the residents have been calling on the governor to repair it but their cries went unanswered.
“It should have been renovated a long time ago if the government really wanted to help the public. This shows us how unhelpful some leaders are to the people that voted for them,” said Ngang’a.
Wamwangi added that he had gone to the county roads and transport executive member numerous times, trying to convince her to renovate the road but the road was always left out despite the promises.
The drivers plying the route have been diverting to other roads in order to access the Garissa road.
The diversions force them to spend more time on the roads thus causing transport inconveniences to the passengers.
According to the CDF Chairman Ephraim Njihia, the road construction is set to take a maximum of three weeks.
