Kikuyu bodaboda operators were on Monday warned against failing to renew their licences as they risk being kicked out of their respective Saccos.
Speaking at the Kamitha grounds, one Sacco chairman, Thomas Muia said that their was increased cases of bodaboda operators in the area being arrested for operating with expired licences.
He said that as a result of that the chairmen of the Saccos had decided that all bodaboda operators will be required to renew their licences at the required time failure to which they will be kicked out of the Saccos.
"A habit has developed among some riders who are operating recklessly forgetting that they represent a Sacco. We wont allow them to continue breaking the law while they are our members," he said.
He also emphasised that the riders should always follow the traffic rules that are required of them.
"We are strict on this issue as the cases of accidents have been increasing. Its time we bring in rules that will help some of us follow the traffic rules," said the chairman.
Erastus Njuguna another sacco chairman seconded his counterpart who said that the Saccos' leadership was only out to protect the good of all the operators.
"The rules are only to help operators to be on the safe side of the law and also for their own good. Some spend a lot of money to pay fines in court which they could have easily used to renew their licences," he added.
If removed from their respective Saccos, members risk losing all the savings they had contributed.
