Patients seeking treatment at Kiambu District Hospital have been urged to observe customer obligations laid out to ease the delivery of services.
Acting Medical Superintendent, Dr Akech Ochieng’ said that patients have a client service obligation which they are supposed to adhere to once they visit the hospital for treatment.
"In observing obligations like complying with doctors' instructions, the public help health officers to implement the hospital charter and making," she said.
Ochieng’ said the charter recognises the patient as the sole benefactor hence each one of them should take the responsibility of meeting their end.
She regretted that some patients seek treatment but once they leave the hospital they do not follow the medical instructions laid out for them. She said this slows down the process of recovery and compromises the doctors' efforts.
"The hospital is always ready to provide information to patients since it is their right to know, but very few come to us until they are at a critical stage," she added.
She emphasised the need to take preventive measure by seeking treatment promptly instead of rushing to the hospital at the last minute. The hospital administrator added that observing a healthy lifestyle was the sure way of disease prevention.
"We have publicly displayed the information through posters at strategic places in the vicinity of the hospital including the waiting areas," she added.
